The incident took place in Stratford on Monday, Dec. 20, 2021, at the Citgo gas station located on Main Street.
According to Capt. Frank Eannotti, of the Stratford Police, the victim left her vehicle running with the driver's door slightly ajar while getting gas.
An SUV pulled up next to her vehicle and the suspect, identified as Tayvion Hart, age 19, of New Haven, got into the driver seat of her car, Eannotti said.
The victim realized what was happening and ran to the driver's door of her car and engaged in a physical fight with Hart, he said.

After an intensive investigation, Hart was identified as a suspect and arrested on Wednesday, Aug. 31 while incarcerated for similar crimes, he added.
